Recurring work

Employers that regularly post workers to Switzerland should use the online notification platform to submit notification for each posting. You must first register with the platform. Once your account has been created, notifications can be submitted and edited simply by logging in.

The online notification platform is also recommended for Swiss employers hiring foreign workers from an EU-27 country for an assignment in Switzerland lasting no more than three months. You also must register for an account and then follow the instructions.

Please note that the legal entitlement for service provision is limited to 90 days per calendar year and service provider. A service provider can be either a self-employed person or a company, pursuant to Art. 5(1) of the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons (AFMP). For companies posting workers, the 90-day limit does not take into consideration the number of posted workers. For instance, if a company posts three workers on the same five days, it has used only five days of its 90-day allotment.

If you resume an interrupted project within three months of last working on it, or if you perform maintenance or provide warranty services within three months, the appropriate cantonal authorities must be notified using the online notification platform. In this case, your current notification must reference the initial notification submitted for the project in question. You must submit the current notification before work begins, but there is no eight-day waiting period as is the case for initial notifications.

Please note that you are required to pay Swiss VAT for work performed in Switzerland. You are exempt from VAT only if the total taxable revenue earned in Switzerland per year is less than CHF 100,000. Click here for VAT registration and additional information (available in DE, FR, IT).
